Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

We collect information you provide when creating an account: business name, your name, email, phone number, business address, and business type. We also collect the business data you enter — sales, products, inventory, customers, employee records, and any documents you choose to upload.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the Sifa service to you. This includes: displaying your dashboard, generating reports, syncing between devices, and sending notifications you've opted into (email summaries, expiry alerts, payment reminders). We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Railway PostgreSQL + S3-compatible object storage) with encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS). Passwords are hashed using Argon2id, the recommended industry standard. Each business is isolated at the database level so one business cannot read another's data. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized Ubunifu Tech personnel.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share your business data with third parties. The only exceptions are: (a) service providers who help us operate the platform (cloud hosting, transactional email delivery), who are bound by confidentiality; (b) if required by Tanzanian law or court order.

5. Offline Data

Sifa stores data locally on your device (IndexedDB) to enable offline use. This data is encrypted in transit when syncing to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes the local copy. You can also sign out to wipe local cached data.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to: access all your data, export it (CSV downloads are available in the app), correct inaccuracies, and request deletion of your account and all associated data. After a deletion request, your data enters a 30-day grace period before permanent removal. Contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Cookies & Tracking

Sifa uses localStorage and IndexedDB for app functionality (authentication tokens, offline data, user preferences). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics services that track individual users across sites.

8. Children's Privacy

Sifa is designed for business use and is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
